British Gas Energy Supplier Review
British Gas, the UK energy supplier, along with Scottish Gas, are the trading names of Centrica – a large multi-national based in the UK but with interests in North America.
It is the largest supplier of gas to domestic customers in the UK and one of the largest suppliers of electricity to customers in Scotland. it is currently the market leading supplier of domestic energy to UK households – supplying up to 20,000,000 customers.
British Gas is probably the most well known domestic energy company in the UK and is normally the first to increase or decrease energy prices and is seen as the indicator as to where current domestic energy prices are heading.

British Gas Tariffs
British Gas offers a range of tariffs to customers. These include Capped, Standard and Online tariffs. All of the British Gas tariffs are popular with its customers.
Standard Tariff
This tariff will give you discounts of up to£88. You can pay your bills online, by direct debit or by credit card. Submit your meter readings monthly and manage your account online.
OnlineSaver 2
Minimun 4% discount against the standard tariff until 1st October 2011. Pay your bills by monthly by direct debit or credit/debit card. Manage your account online, including paperless billing. A free electricity monitor is provided.
Their cheapest online tariff is called British Gas Websaver 9 which includes discounts off their quarterly bill, discounts for paying by direct debit and discounts for managing their bills online. In total, these discounts can amount to a saving of hundreds of pounds a year.
Online Websaver9 is available to new and existing customers who will receive a 6% discount compared to British Gas’ own standard tariff until 1st November 2011. However, customers should be aware that cancellation fees of £30 per fuel will be applied should the customer cancel their contract and switch away before 1st November 2011. British Gas also require that customers submit their meter readings online as part of this tariff.
Customers on this tariff will be required to pay their bills by Direct Debit although this is fixed.
Green Tariffs
Future Energy Plus matches all electricity created by carbon fuel and generates the same amount using green methods such as wind and water and pumps this back into the national grid. British Gas also contributes to the Energy for Tomorrow fund.

A customer in the South East E11 region with the same annual usage would save £166 annually.
A customer in the North East NE1 region with the same annual usage would save £236 annually.
